Your Kite Coach = Certified
Your Kite Coach is Level 2 qualified IKO instructor, as well as a teacher with years of relevant experience! I have a Bachelor’s degree in Sports & Education, which I paired with a minor in Product Design. I’m driven by action and innovation and I think kiteboarding is the best of both worlds. After graduation, instead of getting a job in the educational system, I decided to follow my passion. Through KC, I dedicate my teaching knowledge & experience to sharing this amazing sport with you. Your kiteboarding adventure deserves a head start, don’t you think?
Bachelor in Sports & Education
My choice of becoming a teacher was quite obvious, because I come from a family of teachers. Both of my parents are teachers, and my granny was actually one of the first PE teachers to work after WWII. My choice to study sports and eduction was predominantly inspired by my PE teacher in secondary school, Ton van Weelen. He combined teaching Sports with directing school plays, in which I participated as well. He was active multiple different disciplines, which really resonated with the way I also saw my own future. I graduated in 2012, after which I worked several jobs as a teacher in secondary education, gymnastics club’s, private swimming schools and eventually my main passion kiteboarding. My teaching degree and my experience really gave me an edge over my colleagues and I started receiving specific requests form clients to do private sessions with them. That’s when I realized that I was ready to take the next step.
IKO Level 2
Once that realization hit me, I started planning for a future as an entrepreneur. And what better way to gain experience & inspiration than to go to the Mecca of kiteboarding: South Africa. Spending a couple of months there, working as an instructor for Cape Sports with Jani Matomäki, in top notch conditions, resulted in me getting my Level 2 IKO instructor’s degree. But most importantly, the trip inspired me to develop the Kite Coach concept as it is today.
